Ryan Rambalak was crowned champion of the Georgetown “Premium Cues Showdown” Pools tournament last Sunday at Buddy’s Pool Hall on Sheriff Street.
In a keenly contested Georgetown leg of the countrywide tournament, Rambalak battled to victory against 32 players and for his win he took home a first prize of $60,000 and a trophy.

Sean DeSouza of McDoom, East Bank Demerara was crowned champion of the inaugural Banks DIH Limited sponsored “Premium Cues Showdown” National pools tournament which ended Sunday at Stabroek Sports Bar on Brickdam.

De Souza who was also the East Bank Demerara zone champion played consistently throughout the national finals to be declared winner beating into second position Rameshwar Seeraj of East Coast Demerara.

Persaud Wins East Coast leg of Premium Cues Competition

Vishwannauth Persaud was crowned East Coast Demerara champion at the East Coast leg of the Premium Cues countrywide Pools competition held last Sunday at Jameel’s Sports Bar at Vryheid’s Lust.

Persaud carted off a top prize of a trophy, $50,000 and a chance to represent the East Coast at the national finals.

The East Coast Demerara leg of the Premium Cues countrywide Pools competition will take place on Sunday at Jameel’s Sports Bar at Vryheid’s Lust starting at 13:00 hours.

The playoff will attract some of the top pools players on the East Coast competing for a top prize of $50,000 with the runner-up securing $30,000 while the third place finisher will take home $15,000.

The tournament entitled “Premium Cues Showdown” is sponsored by Banks DIH Limited under the Premium Beer brand.

Guyana suffered mixed fortunes on the opening night of the Guinness Caribbean Street Challenge with a win and a defeat in their Zone “A” playoffs at the championship being played in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Guyana went down to Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 in their opening match but rebounded to score a 2-0 win over Antigua/Barbuda.

Trinidad and Tobago are the 2013 Guinness Caribbean Street Football champions as last year’s runner-up Guyana failed to advance to the semi-finals in this year’s regional tournament held over the weekend in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Trinidadians defeated Dominica 2-0 in a penalty shootout in the final after the game was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

The Guyana side competing in Zone “A” in the preliminary competition scored only one win beating Antigua/Barbuda 2-0. They lost to eventual winners Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 and bowed out to St. Lucia in a penalty shootout 2-1 in the battle for a semi-final place. Daniel Favorite scored Guyana’s only goal in the penalty shootout.

Confident Team Guyana Ready for Guinness Street Football Challenge

A confident Team Guyana (Back Circle) will wing out next week to compete in the second Annual Guinness Caribbean Street Football Challenge to be played from June 21-23 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Back Circle, Guyana’s national champion and losing finalists at the inaugural Guinness Street Challenge hosted last year in Guyana expressed confidence in capturing the championships which will attract eight regional teams – defending champions St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, Antigua/Barbuda, St, Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and newcomers Grenada, Dominica, and St. Kitts/Nevis.
