Twenty four children who were successful at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) received Bursary Awards from Banks DIH Limited during a ceremony in their honour Saturday at Thirst Park.

Mr. Andrew Carto, Human Resources Director who delivered the feature address said Banks DIH looked forward to hosting the ceremony every year because the company has an interest in looking for future employees.

Team Banks took a comfortable lead of the three-match aggregate Beverage companies Dominoes series against ANSA McAl and Demerara Distillers Limited (El Dorado Conquerors) at the end of the second round played at ANSA McAl head office at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

Prizes won at the recently concluded Powerade Pee Wee Football tournament organized by the Georgetown Football Association and sponsored by Banks DIH Limited were presented to the outstanding teams and players at a Presentation Ceremony Saturday June 30, at Thirst Park.

The inaugural Guinness Caribbean Street Football challenge opened Thursday evening at the National Park tarmac.

Five regional teams, Antigua/Barbuda, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and host Guyana are competing in the five-a-side tournament.

The feature address was delivered by Mr. Alfred King, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport who represented Sports Minister Dr. Frank Anthony.

The inaugural Guinness Street Football Challenge will take place in Guyana from June 21st -23rd at the National Park arena with six regional teams expected to compete for a top prize of $4,000 (US) and a specialized artificial football pitch in country of the winning team.

Jude Bentley made light work of his opponents to win the Powerade sponsored 50-mile Cycle Road race held in West Demerara Sunday.
