Hugh Ross, the world renowned Bodybuilder and Malta Supreme Brand Ambassador has continued his campaign to promote healthy living among children following visits to three schools in Berbice and Georgetown.

Ross, a former Mr. Universe and NABBA Masters Champion visited Berbice High and New Amsterdam Multilateral schools in New Amsterdam and Marian Academy in Georgetown where he interacted with students and teachers and encouraged them to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Banks DIH Limited honoured 26 employees who attained 20 years of service with the Company at its Annual 20-Year Club Luncheon held Friday at the Sports Club, Thirst Park.

Mr. Deonarain Seepaul, Finance Controller who delivered the feature address congratulated the new long service awardees who were inducted into the Company’s 20-Year Club.

Mr. Seepaul, who has been employed for 34 years, said the 20-Year Club is a tradition of the rich cultural heritage of the Company.

Patanjalee “Pur” Persaud continued his impressive form this season when won the fifth Citizens Bank Players Championship while Pacifiers carted off the GT Beer team title at Sunday’s GT Beer/Citizens Bank sponsored Golf Classic at the Lusignan Golf Course, East Coast Demerara.

With over 48 golfers in attendance, the day’s play provided an exciting battle for supremacy as 12 teams competed in the foursome tournament and individual prizes at stake including the prestigious Players Championship.

Banks DIH Limited and Citizens Bank will team up to host the Citizens Bank/GT Beer Golf Classic on Sunday at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.

It is the second time the foursome tournament will be played this year and will feature some of the top local players and several overseas golfers who participated in the just concluded Guyana Open.

Banks DIH Limited has made a monetary donation to the National Library for the “Gillian Thompson Reading Challenge” held in honour of the late Chief Librarian who died in the motor vehicle accident last year.

The Reading Challenge has been organized to promote reading among young adults and adults, an initiative started by the last Chief Librarian.

Eight teams will vie for top honours in the Banks Malta Supreme Under-13 cricket tournament organized by the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA).

The competing teams are Georgetown Cricket Club, Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), Transport Sports Club, Malteenoes Sports Club, Demerara Cricket Club, Everest Cricket Club, Bel-Air Rubis and Diplomats of Lodge.

Banks DIH Limited presented bursaries to 23 children of employees and shareholders who were successful at 2014 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) during a presentation ceremony Saturday at Banks DIH Sports Club at Thirst Park.

The awardees were encouraged to place education as a priority by Mr. Carlton Joao, Sales and Marketing Executive who delivered the feature address.

Approximately sixty students from various secondary, technical and tertiary institutions in regions three, four and seven are attending a six-week Work Study Attachment Programme at Banks DIH Limited.

The programme which started in June and runs until the end of August on a rotation basis are attended by students of the University of Guyana, Government Technical Institute (GTI), Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) Carnegie School of Home Economics, Annandale Secondary, Queen’s College, St. Stanislaus College, Stewartville Secondary, Patentia Secondary of West Demerara Region 3, St. Rose’s High, St. Joseph’s High, Camille Institute of Business and Three Mile Secondary of Bartica in Region Seven.
