Assistant Managing Director of Banks DIH Ltd. Mr. George McDonald said that his company is proud to have won the President of Guyana Award for Export Achievement for 2010 noting that the honour came through diligent marketing strategies.

Mr. McDonald, who is also the company’s Marketing Director, said Banks DIH Ltd. has made significant strides in Europe, North America and the Caribbean with the Company’s wide range of products now readily available to the Diaspora.

Banks DIH Ltd. was awarded the President’s Award for export at the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) Annual Presentation Dinner at Princess Hotel recently.

The award was presented to the local beverage giant in recognition of recording a significant growth in export sales in excess of 20 percent and for achieving diversification in export markets which reached a level of over 21 countries.

According to Mr. Mc Donald Banks DIH has seen growth in Europe and North America while there has been a high demand for the products in the Caribbean and neighbouring Suriname and French Guiana.

“Our products are now being exported to Italy, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, USA, St. Maarten, British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica just to name a few, and we are currently in negotiation with other distributors in Sweden, Denmark and a few Asian territories to expand our scope” he added.

The products that are in high demand are the XM Millennium 12 year old, XM Royal 10 year old, VXO seven year old and Xtra Mature among the rum products.

Demerara Cream Liqueur, Estate Royal Rum Punch, Banks Beer, Banks Shandy, Banks Malta, I-cee soft drinks, Trisco crackers and Banko wines are also being exported around the world, the Marketing Director said.

“We have already secured orders for our new 15 year-old rum which will be launched early in the new year,” he added.
