Bartica, Region 7 – July 12, 2026 — Banks DIH Limited officially opened its seventh Demico Qik Serv restaurant in Bartica, marking the brand's first branch in the historic mining town and extending its footprint further into Guyana's regions.

The opening ceremony was held at First Street, Third Avenue and drew members of the Bartica community, regional officials including the Mayor of Bartica, Mr. Anthony Murray, and the Regional Vice Chairman of Region Seven, Mr. Alden Marslowe. The Feature Address was delivered by the Honourable Susan Rodrigues, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, who joined the occasion in recognition of the branch's contribution to local economic activity and regional development. Banks DIH Limited leadership in attendance included the Chairman/Managing Director Mr. Clifford Reis, members of the Board of Directors, and Executive Members.

Also present were Mr. Desmond Gajraj, whose more than 40 years in the restaurant industry include decades spent as General Manager of the Demico Division, and Mr. Maxwell Denny, Division Executive of Demico Division, who brings over 20 years of financial management expertise to the role.

In her remarks, Minister Rodrigues highlighted the rich history of Banks DIH Limited and its long service to Guyana, describing the company as a symbol of local entrepreneurship, innovation, and resilience. She commended the company for its continued investment in communities and its commitment to bringing quality products and services closer to customers.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Gajraj highlighted that the company's expansion into Bartica is a result of visionary leadership and its ability to leverage opportunities. He also noted:

"The opening of this Qik Serv branch in Bartica represents Banks DIH Limited's commitment to communities. A commitment that is truly Guyanese, as it provides opportunities for local farmers, local talent, and local suppliers," said Mr. Gajraj.

IMr. Denny, in his vote of thanks, offered gratitude to all those who joined in the momentous occasion, including the employees, suppliers, contractors, and leaders who made it all possible. He also noted:

"…to our loyal customers and the residents of Bartica and surrounding communities, we express our deepest gratitude for your continued trust and support. Your confidence in our company has been the foundation of our success for generations, and we remain committed to serving you with excellence," said Mr. Denny.

The new Bartica branch adds to Demico Qik Serv's continued expansion across Guyana, bringing its authentic Guyanese flavours and tastes closer to communities outside the capital. The branch is expected to create new employment opportunities for residents of Bartica and the surrounding area and marks the seventh location for the fast food chain.
