Over sixty children are attending a one-month Vacation Sports and Academic Camp at Banks DIH Sports Complex at Thirst Park geared at offering life skills to the participants.

The programme which started on July19th will run until August 19 with three sessions per week is organized by

Banks DIH Sports Club Committee.

Coordinator of the Programme Jimmy Ramnarayan, Sports Manager of Banks DIH Ltd. disclosed that the participants aged six to 16 years, all company employees children are exposed to training in sports, drama and academics.

“The children take part in chess and other board games, physical activities such as table tennis, football which are all currently being played indoors because of the inclement weather, once the weather improves we will utilize the ground for athletics and circle tennis,” he added.

Three coaches Candacy McKenzie, Dennis “Chow” Hunte and Xenophone Goliah are coordinating the various activities.
“The topics include promoting good manners, remedial classes for slow learners and debating competitions. These were chosen to develop discipline and promote moral values to the children attending,” Ramnarayan said.

The programme will end with a Cultural presentation where the children will show case their talent.
