The Banks DIH Limited sponsored Malta Supreme One-day Rapid Chess tournament will take place on Sunday Match 25th at the Constabulary Recreational Hall in Linden.

The tournament starts at 11:00 hours and will feature several of the nation’s top players.

The Swiss System competition will be played in the senior and junior categories and it consists of seven rounds with a time limit of 40 minutes per game. Trophies and cash prizes are at stake. Last year’s winner Malcolm Archer said he welcomed the competition from players outside of Linden adding that it would also help to promote the game in Linden Banks Troy Peters, Banks DIH Limited Communications Manger said that his company was pleased to sponsor another Chess tournament, this time in Linden.

A similar tournament was sponsored in West Demerara last year.

We have a very good working relationship with the Guyana Chess Federation as the local body continues its quest to popularize the game countrywide. He added.

Malta Supreme Brand Manager, Clayton McKenzie made the presentation of the cheque to Secretary of the Guyana Chess Federation Vishu Rampersaud during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park witnessed by President of the Federation, Shiv Nandalall..
